The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to recruit young and dynamic candidates for its Flying, Ground Duty (Technical), and Ground Duty (Non-Technical) branches. Purpose of AFCAT

Branches Through AFCAT

Flying Branch: Pilots who fly fighter, transport, and helicopter aircraft.

Ground Duty (Technical): Engineers responsible for aircraft systems, electronics, and mechanical operations.

Ground Duty (Non-Technical): Officers who manage administration, logistics, education, accounts, and meteorology.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: Indian Citizen

Age Limit:

– Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years

– Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical): 20 to 26 years

Educational Qualification:

– For Flying Branch: Graduate with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level or B.E/B.Tech

– For Ground Duty (Technical): B.E/B.Tech degree in relevant disciplines

– For Ground Duty (Non-Technical): Graduation in any discipline with minimum 60% marks

Selection Process

The AFCAT selection process consists of multiple stages to evaluate the overall personality and aptitude of the candidate:

Stage 1 – Written Examination: Online test covering General Awareness, Verbal Ability, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning & Military Aptitude.

Stage 2 – AFSB Interview: Air Force Selection Board evaluates the candidate’s leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities through Group Discussions, Psychological Tests, and Personal Interviews.

Stage 3 – Medical Examination: Conducted at Air Force medical centers to assess physical and medical fitness standards.
